Kingsley Heritage ~ Two Weekends of Celebration

This year at the Kingsley Plantation the heritage event focuses on the 150th anniversary of the Civil War, which was called by many as the "War of Jubilee".

 

On Saturday, February 18th at 1:30 pm, Sparky and Rhonda will entertain with melodies, stories, and music of the Civil War era. Presenting as Harriet Tubman, reenactor Rose Person will recite poetry and explain Harriet Tubman's role in the Civil War. There will be kids activities throughout the day. The Main House will be open for viewing from 10 am until 1:30 pm.


On Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 1:00 pm reenactors

will be scattered throughout the grounds, demonstrating what life may have been like for people on the plantation. Highlighting the day will be the Massachusetts 54th regiment, representing one of the first African American units in the war.
