Please read this alert from 1000 Friends of Florida and ask the Representatives to support the Vox Populi Act. We have had major issues with access in this area, so this Act could provide very good guidance to the City of Jacksonville.

Many, many people in NE Florida think that withdrawing water from the St. Johns River, at very least without doing studies about the impact to the River, is a bad idea. Here is a list of entites that have passed resolutions against the withdrawals as of 3/11/08. The Public Trust has sent notice to the water management district that it will file for an injunction if it goes ahead with the permits.

The Public Trust and St. Johns Riverkeeper have each sent the St. Johns River Water Management District verified complaints challenging the legality of the WMD granting consumptive use permits for surface water.
